YOUTH ACTIVITIES
And Services

Our youth are involved in many phases of Church life.

Foremost is participation in our Christian Education programs: Sunday School, Children's Sermons, Children's Church. Click the Christian Education link at left for information about these programs.

On Children's Day, held in early June, our Sunday School Children present a program that shows what they have learned in the past year. It is the culmination of the Sunday School year. This service is usually followed by a family picnic on the church grounds. Our Fenced Play Area provides a year-'round place for the younger kids to vent some of their youthful energy in a healthy way.

The Christmas Pageant is a highlight of the Christmas season, as the Youth present a short play, usually with music. All ages have an opportunity to display their thespian and/or musical talents and enjoy wearing costumes, helping with sets and props, learning lines and perhaps doing a solo. All this to convey the story and joy of the season from various points of view.

In our Youth Group, young people from 6th - 12th grades meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. They serve the church and the community by helping out with various programs. They participate in several local missions. They also just have fun at the church, with pizza parties and a wide variety of games. (We now have ping-pong and (outdoor) basketball space!)

Chaperoned overnight lock-ins at the church, ski trips, beach trips and other activities are arranged from time to time. And sometimes they just "hang out," or as adults might say, "enjoy fellowship with one another." Come Join the Fun!!

Nursery service
(Nursery)
is available for our very youngest members and visitors. In our specially decorated and equipped Nursery Room, congregational volunteers provide care for infants and children up to age 3 during Sunday School, Sunday Worship and for some special events.
(The Cry Room)
Although nursery service is more of a program to assist adults (parents, grandparents, . . .) than children, we thought we should mention it here! As an alternative, a Cry Room is available behind the glass partition at the back of the church, for those who prefer to tend their own small children while not completely missing out on the worship service.

Finally, please be aware that First Reformed has a well-defined Child and Youth Protection Policy.
